Dublin placed 2nd in the European FDI Rankings
Dublin has knocked Paris into 3rd position after being listed 2nd in the European FDI Rankings.
The fDi's European Cities and Regions of the Future 2018/19 ranking seeks to find the most promising cities and regions across the whole of Europe. The ranking is based on a range of data collected by fDi Intelligence under the following categories; Economic Potential, Labour Enviornment, Cost Effectiveness, Infrastructure and Business Friendliness.
Dublin has been named FDI's Northern European region of the Future, top small European region overall and the top small region for economic potential and business friendliness.
Dublin is capitalising on Brexit fears by attracting a number of foreign direct investment projects. According to the report Dublin attracted "the same number of projects in the financial services sector in the first three quarters of 2017 as it received in the whole of 2016 and 2015 combined".
The study found that Dublin received the highest level of capital investment in R&D of all the cities studied and welcomed more than $1.6 billion in R&D investments in the five years to September 2017.
