Ireland’s universities have scored highly in a new European ranking system (2014) with most finishing in the top half of the U-Multirank system. Irish colleges and universities have been "punching above their weight" for years with a burgeoning international reputation for excellence. Within one hour’s drive, Dublin Enterprise Zone has access to five universities, four Institutes of Technology and the National College of Ireland which, between them, cater for over 90,000 students. The education providers in Dublin and surrounding areas have long established links with industry and work, in co-operation with businesses, to ensure that their skills, knowledge and research and development needs are met.
